Dragons

Aasterinian is the dragon goddess of Learning, Invention, and Pleasure, and serves as the messenger of Io (or Bahamut[1]). Aasterinian is a quick-witted and mischievous goddess who enjoys disturbing the status quo, and left to her own devices, she actively taunts lawful figures across the cosmos. [2] In Arborea and Ysgard in the Forgotten Realms, Aasterinian is referred to as Hlal.[3]

Aaterinian always appreciates learning and the change one undergoes through it, which she prefers to do through experimentation, invention, and pleasure. [4]

Appearance[]

Aaestrinian's avatar appears as a huge Brass Dragon with a turquoise-sheened forehead that holds a golden star in the center.[2] Alternatively, as Hlal she can assume the form of any creature of which may fit whatever trickery she has enacted as seen fit, with a form she takes without that in mind being a faerie dragon that "glows with a yellow gold aura".[5] She may also take the appearance of a Red Dragon as seen by her alternative holy symbol (see below). As an exarch, she is a Blue Dragon [6]

Dogma[]

Aasterinian encourages the pursuance of free thought among her followers, and advises them to ignore the limitations of other's views. To Aaesterinian, the worst crime someone can commit is not putting trust into themselves or their abilities.[4]

Clergy and Temples[]

Aaesterinian’s followers consist of wanderers who travel in disguise or secrecy. Temples dedicated to her are very rare, although shrines are frequent and can be used as places of rest for her worshippers. Followers of Aasterinian have friendly relations with those of Garl Glittergold, Fharlanghn, Olidammara, and like-minded deities.[4] As Hlal, she is favored among Copper and Faerie dragons, although she is not the only deity these dragons worship.[5]

Prayers[]

Prayers to Aasterinian focus on the desire for change in hopes for new experiences. A daily prayer said by her followers is "Let today differ from both yesterday and tomorrow."[7]

Rites[]

A follower honors Aasterinian every time they learn or create something new. To a follower, the mere act of laughing, smiling cheerfully, or sighing with contentment reminds them of their goddess.[7]

Quests[]

Tasks given to her followers are always unpredictable, although they usually involve traveling or garnering new experiences. Aasterinian forms her tasks to put emphasis on the journey rather then the destination.[7]

Relations[]

Aasterinian shares a healthy relationship with Io, being reliable enough to intervene in cases of great importance as Io's replacement. As Hlal, she is said to have done an "particularly elaborate practical joke" on the Null, the draconic god of Death, of which Null still wants to enact vengeance on her to this day.[5]

Heralds[]

Aasterinian's herald on the Material Plane is an ancient Brass Dragon with a turquoise-sheened forehead holding a golden star at its center. Her herald's allies consist of chaotic or netural dragons, half-dragons, and various other draconic creatures.[7]

Powers and Abilities[]

Aasterination's avatar has the breath weapon capabilities of Great Brass Wyrm but greatly enhanced. Once per day, she can cast a cloud of spiral of degeneration. Her fear aura is also increased to a range of 100 yards.[2]

She has access to all spells in all spheres and schools, sans the sphere of law. She is also resistant against fire attacks, cold attacks, and magic, being outright immune to spell effects of 5th level or lower, and is further immune to poison, paralysis, death-related magic, and mind-affecting spells.[2]
