Dragons

The Ancient Dragon is an optional boss that appears in Dark Souls 2.

Appearance[]

The Ancient Dragon is a massive creature resembling traditional western dragons, featuring massive wings, long thin horns, and a brown scaly body covered in what appears to be vine-like tendrils.

History[]

The Ancient Dragon appears to resemble an Everlasting Dragon, the first rulers of the world, but its true origins are clouded. Based on the available evidence given in-game, it can be concluded that this dragon is a mimic created with a giant's soul in the image of an everlasting dragon that died long ago, whose mummified body can still be found within the webbed lair of Duke's Dear Freja, a massive two-headed spider. The mimic resides in an ancient shrine.

When approached by the protagonist, the dragon can either be fought or be spoken to. If the latter is chosen, the dragon will give the player an item called the Ashen Mist Heart, which lets the player view memories of the dead, and acquire the Dragon Soul found within the mummified husk.

Abilities[]

If fought, the Ancient Dragon has a very large amount of HP and very high damage. Its attacks include flight, stomping, and breathing massive jets of fire at foes.
