A Battle Dragon is a species of Planar Dragon from Dungeons & Dragons. The dragons are courageous, cunning, and loyal creatures that revel in combat. Depending on depiction, they often serve as the steeds of powerful warriors, or as commanders for gods, whether good or evil.
Appearance[]
Battle Dragons have large horns that extend from the back of their skull as well as along their back. They have yellow eyes as well as gleaming green scales that are dipped with bronze, red, or gold, When at rest, their scales fade to a dull brown color until it is reemerged in sunlight.

Battle Dragons are natural leaders that imbue their armies with a sense of purpose. The dragons are also known for their optimistic perspectives that allow them to find the good out of any situation, an attitude that can be contagious amongst its allies.
Battle Dragons are noted to be skilled at oratory and singing.
Combat[]
Battle Dragons are tactical warriors. They prefer to use fear magic as they soar above the battlefield, and once engaged goes with melee attacks. They hate to leave the battlefield but do recognize when a battle is lost, although before departing they'll do a final blow to an opponent to remember it by.
Society[]
Battle Dragons have typical family structures, consistent of two parents and a clutch of children.
Relations[]
Battle Dragons begin serving as steeds for warriors at the juvenile age. Cities and knightly orders are known to forge alliances with Battle Dragon families for mutual protection, with generations of riders fighting alongside Battle Dragons from the same family line.
Battle Dragons serve a diverse amount of gods, noted gods including Kord, Bane, and Grummsh.
Powers and Abilities[]
A Battle Dragon’s breath weapon varies on depiction, being a blast of radiant energy or a cone of either sonic energy or fear-inducing gas. Battle Dragons also have various magical capabilities, most notably being able to use it to increase its allies’ morale or health. They further possess various spell like abilities that allow them to conjure entire feasts for its allies, supernaturally link themselves with an ally to share any damage taken, heal its allies, and make themselves resistant to magic, mental domination, and the physical attacks of evil creatures.
