Middle Earth

Middle Earth is the setting for 'Tolkein's Legandarium', a collection of books and stories by J R R Tolkein. His work is famous in the world of fantasy writing, as he invented languages, writing systems, mythologies and ancient politics for his universe, and was seen as the forefather of this sort of world building which is seen in many popular fantasy fiction to this day. Dragons are involved in the history of Middle Earth. However, by the time of Tolkein's most famous books, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the dragon race had dwindled down to one firedrake called Smaug.
