Dragons, Serpents, and Slayers in the Classical and Early Christian Worlds: A Sourcebook is a academic work by professor Daniel Ogden that was published by Oxford University Press and released on May 30, 2013.
The book contains a compilation of texts about dragons, serpents, and their slayers from Greek, Roman, and Early Christian sources, some never found in English prior to the book. Each text follows up with commentary from the author that takes note of their mythical, folkloric, literary, and cultural contexts. The book also contains iconography of the various dragons and serpents as well as an appendix featuring dragon slaying myths from the ancient Near East and India, practically ones that are connected to the Greco-Roman material.[1]
