The Frenzy Virus, sometimes known as the Feral Wyvern Virus, is an infectious disease that are spread by the scales of the Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala.

Symptons[]
In monsters, the virus has multiple symptons including, heightened aggression, the developing of a dark purple hue all over the body, vocal cords seem to be effected leaving the monster with a more distorted roar and finally the monster will either die, or if strong enough, will enter the Apex state.
Humans(or maybe just hunters) on the other hand have a much easier time with the virus. The symptons include, the reduction of natural healing speed and they take more damage from monster that use/are infected with frenzy. Usually only lasts for a few minutes and can be suppresed with a nullberry. If a human fights hard enough they will gain a boost to their affinity for a few seconds.
Transmission[]
The Frenzy Virus can be spread by the scales and breath attacks of monsters from the Magala family as a way to see(in the case of Gore Magala) and hunt. Infected monsters can spread frenzy through their bite, scratch or breath attacks. The virus seems to take longer to incubate in monsters then humans, maybe this is due to their smaller size.
Apex State[]
When a monster overcomes the fatal effects of Frenzy, they will enter the Apex state. Apex monster have, along with the purple hue, a slight red hue over their bodies. They become much more brutal, durable and stronger then others of their species. Even the strongest weapons with the highest sharpness bounce and elemental and status effects will be nullified. They will also receive 80% less damage from all attacks and gain an immunity to traps. The only weakness of the Apex State is that it can be temporarily nullified with the use of wystones.
