The Gaping Dragon is boss in the video game Dark Souls.
Appearance[]
The gaping dragon is a long malformed monstrosity. The creatures has six legs, and four degraded wings. The creature's chest region has opened up and become a massive gaping maw filled with fangs of various sizes, whereas it's head is now just a small, mouthless proboscis. The creature's body is covered in thick, gray scales.
History[]
The Gaping Dragon is known to be a twisted descendant of the Everlasting Dragons that once ruled the world. This hungry monster is just a shell of their former greatness though. It is encountered by the Chosen Undead in the ancient sewer system and caverns known as the Depths, where it is slain.
Temperment[]
The Gaping Dragon is driven by insatiable hunger, and will relentlessly pursue any potential meal that it finds.
Abilities[]
In battle, the Gaping Dragon mainly relies on either crushing enemies with its chest, legs, or tail, or attempting to grab and eat them. While unable to fly, it's wings can allow it to make incredibly high jumps. After dropping below half health, the dragon will also regurgitate a corrosive ooze over the battlefield that degrades equipment.
Weakness[]
As a dragon in the Dark Souls universe, it harbors a weakness to lightning. It's reduced vision, slow speed, and lack of elemental abilities leave it vulnerable to fast foes or ranged attacks.
