Icarus is a purple dragon from the anime Dragonball Z, and is friends with Gohan. He only appears in the original anime, in filler, as well as the movies.

Garlic Jr. Saga[]
Gohan flew Icarus to a reunion at Kame House when Chi-Chi told him to stay home and study. They avoided the Black Water Mist by hiding in a cave, with Icarus's head in the cave and his body blocking the mist. When their friends and family were infected with the mist, Icarus saved Krillin's girlfriend Maron from being attacked by Chi-Chi and Bulma. Maron rode Icarus to Korin Tower from here.
He is briefly mentioned by Goten, indicating that he is still around at this time.
The movies[]
All movies in which he appears are not in continuity with the original anime, nor Kai.
Icarus's first appearance - before he became part of the original anime - was in the movie Tree of Might, Gohan saved a dragon from a falling tree, who briefly thought Shenron was threatening the forest (when he was really summoned to restore it) and was nearly killed by Shenron's tail as a result. Gohan named him Icarus, and became friends with him, though Chi-Chi didn't approve of him, until Icarus got through to Gohan when he was rampaging as a Great Ape. Turles nearly killed him, but he survived.
Icarus returned in Lord Slug, dancing to Gohan whistling, which hurt Piccolo's ears.
He also appeared in Cooler's Revenge, where Gohan rode him to Korin Tower to get a Senzu Bean for Goku after he was injured by Cooler.
