Kanna Kamui is a dragon who is one of the main protagonists in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. She once lived in the dragon world but had been exiled for enacting too many pranks. Kanna then followed Tohru into the human world and despite her initial skepticism of Miss Kobayashi, she was quickly charmed by Kobayashi's kindness and would be taken in by Kobayashi and Tohru. In the human world, Kanna is a student at the local elementary school where she engages and interacts with human kids and has a friendship with one of her fellow classmates, Riko Saikawa.
Description[]
Kanna is a feathered western dragon with a white hue and has blue eyes, which is reflected in her human form. She takes the form of a grade-schooler and wears traditional clothing in her human form. According to the official guidebook, Kanna's human form is 120 centimeters (roughly 3 feet 9 inches) tall while her dragon form is 10 meters (roughly 32 feet) tall.[1]
Personality[]
Kanna is a dragon child who finds herself conflicted with her natural abilities as a dragon while trying to act in accordance with how human children act. As a dragon, she excels academically and athletically ahead of her human peers and is known to be cunning (as evident by having been a serial prankster in her home world), however she also has a child-like curiosity and is constantly active, being unable to be in one place for long. Outside of her time being a student, Kanna hangs out with Kobayashi in the mornings and in the afternoons spends most of her time playing with Saikawa.[1]
Abilities[]
Kanna's element is lightning, being able to harness electrical and lightning mana in the form of projectiles. Despite there being little mana in the human world, Kanna is able to recharge her powers by connecting to electrical outlets through her tail. As a dragon child, her powers are fairly low compared to the likes of Tohru as seen with her magical spells such as Perception Blocking not being as consistent.[1]
