Rathian is a female wyvern that has appeared in every Monster Hunter games thus far. Her male counterpart is Rathalos.
Appearance[]
Rathian is a large bipedal wyvern that is a dull green in color. Her body is long and covered in overlapping armor plates. The tail is tipped with a number of spines. She has very large wings lined with large spikes, and has spots on the membranes. Her head has a slight beak shape, with a single spike on her chin, and sharp teeth.
Ecology[]
Rathians most commonly inhabit forests and mountainous areas, but have been known to travel to swamps, jungles, and deserts as well. They are often a top predator, but are not usually the alpha dog in most cases.
Abilities[]
Rathians are highly aggressive, and usually will stay on the ground, only flying for short periods of time. Their jaws, bulk, and tails are all used to great effect. Rathian is a potent fire breather, capable of letting loose explosive fireballs with ease, although she does not appear to be capable of doing so while airborne. The wyvern's talons and tail spikes are filled with a potent venom, injected by slashing foes. Rathian often tries to hit foes with her venomous tail by backflipping.
Weaknesses[]
Rathian's body is naturally vulnerable to electrical attacks. She also relies heavily on sight, and is easily disoriented with blinding lights.
Pink Rathian[]
A less common subspecies with a pink body. Pink Rathians are more aggressive and agile.
Gold Rathian[]
A very rare subspecies with a shining gold carapace. Gold Rathians have very strong defenses, and have significantly stronger firepower than normal Rathians.
Dreadqueen Rathian[]
The Toxic Dreadqueen
A normal Rathian that has undergone disturbing bodily changes due to a highly stressful environment. The wyvern's body has become bigger, more accentuated, and has taken on a dark purple hue in many areas. in addition to increased aggression, the Dreadqueen boasts significantly augmented venom, and can detach her tail spikes on the ground to leave temporary poison clouds.
