Sprinks are baby dragons that appear in the 2012 mobile match-3 game Candy Crush Saga. They were once thought to be the children of the Gummi Wyrm Denize.
Appearance[]
Sprinks are cute, pink gelatinuous baby dragons. They resemble dinosaurs, particularly with five crests on the back of their head. Their torso and tail combined form a crescent shape, and they have nubby limbs. They also have small wings on their backs. Their eggshells also appear to have a gumball-like texture.
History[]
Newborn Sprinks crack out of eggs to take their first breaths and see the light of day, but they easily roll off into trouble and end up getting trapped in levels throughout the game. Players must match candies to help drop the baby dragons into egg collectors, apparatuses that can help break their eggs open so that they could fly away freely back home.
In late 2024, during the Holiday Season, the mischievous Bubblegum Troll used a magic wand to conjure Spearmint Storms that trapped various citizens of the Candy Kingdom in ice, along with the Sprinks. Players completed special levels at the end of certain episodes to free the frozen Sprinks, who would then use their fire-breathing abilities, once thought to be weak at birth, to free the citizens and eventually put a stop to Bubblegum Troll's plans.
In 2025, Sprink eggs are said to have been found in lost nests that can be broken open to release individual eggs that must then be freed from the game.
Skills and abilities[]
Even at birth, Sprinks can breathe a tiny whiff of fire that looks more like some sparks, although they are capable of unleashing a stronger burst of fire to, for instance, melt ice. When freed, they can also fly on their wings.
Behind the scenes[]
Sprinks first appeared in the match-3 game Candy Crush Saga in 2023 as Gummi Dragons to replace cherries and hazelnuts that players must drop from the board via the game's Bejeweled-esque gravity mechanic as an objective in some levels. They were said to be the children of Denize. Even though she is an wyrm-like oriental dragon, the Gummi Dragons were depicted as western dragons with wings to go along with the animation of completed objectives flying to the heads-up display during a level.
In the summer of 2025, they were officially renamed Sprinks, in reference to how sprinkly their skin and eggshells appear. This implies that they are not Denize's children after all and are thus a new species of dragon. A new obstacle was also leaked to commemorate the renaming, called "Sprink nests", nests of Sprink eggs that would drop a limited number of Sprinks onto the game board when struck by nearby matches or candy blasts.
