Valstrax is an Elder Dragon appearing in Monster Hunter XX
Appearance[]
Valstrax is 6-limbed dragon with a unique design. It's body is very lizard-like and slender, with silvery scales and large gray spikes on it's back. Several air intake vents are located on it's chest. It's feet feature large hooked talons, and it's face has a hooked beak. It's wings are of an odd design. Rather than the typical membraned wing, Valstrax's feature wings with fire-vents in them.
Ecology[]
Valstrax has been sighted for many years, but was thought to just be an odd shooting star until recently. It's known to be one of the most fearsome thing in the sky, and will live just about anywhere. It prefers very high areas such as the massive pillar on the ruined ridge, which stretches high above the clouds.
Abilities[]
In battle, a Valstrax is very agile and swift, using it's claws and wings to attack. Valstrax's wings are able to change their shape to be used in combat. In their normal form, the dragon can ram the butt of the wing into foes, or extend it out into a long blade to stab or slash foes. However, Valstrax can twist it's wings around 180 degrees, and use them like a pair of massive claws. Valstrax also produces copious amounts of dragon energy, which is fueled by air coming in through it's chest intake vents, and mainly expelled through it's wing vents. The dragon is has adapted to use this energy for a revolutionary purpose: rather than wings that flap to provide lift, Valstrax expels dragon energy with immense force, turning its wings into biological rocket engines that allow it to soar at supersonic speeds or rapidly accelerate towards foes. In addition to thrust, Valstrax can also fire blasts or flares of dragon energy from it's wings like a cannon, especially when turned around. When angry, the dragon vents excess fire from it's wings and head at all times.
Weaknesses[]
Valstrax is resistant to dragon element, but boasts a number of other elemental weaknesses. In addition, overusing it's abilities will cause Valstrax to begin sucking in more air to refuel. Attacking during this time can cause an explosion.
Valstrax's back, claws, head, and wings can be broken. Its tail can be severed.
